The Social Foxtrot This is considered to be the easiest of the Ballroom Dances to learn and can be danced to almost any piece of 4 beat music. It is commonly used for Wedding Dances, is one of the first ballroom dances taught. It is a great way of building confidence and learning something that makes you feel like you can go out on the floor right away. You will learn the basic steps, how to negotiate the corners and then add some turns and promenade walks to make your dance more interesting and look more elaborate. The video below is a short demonstration of the Social Foxtrot. It is our first attempt at publishing a demonstration video. It is far from perfect but I hope it will help beginners to follow the steps. Please share and follow our YouTube Channel for more videos coming soon.

Many people's favourite ballroom dance. The romantic Waltz is one of the most popular ballroom dances of all time. Considered by some as the mother of present day dances and the backbone dance of the ballroom dancing arena, the Waltz is the basis for many dances. Developed in Germany, the Waltz is popular all over the world. A truly romantic dance, the Waltz is comprised of soft, round, flowing movements. The Waltz is the granddaddy of all ballroom dances. It grew out of the Germanic dances of the 17th and 18th century such as the Ländler and the Allemande. The name ‘Waltz’ comes from an old German word walzen, meaning to roll, turn, or glide. Waltz was the first dance in which the man and lady danced with body contact, and was considered quite scandalous in its day. It was immensely popular all across Europe, first with the lower classes and then with the aristocracy. Waltz features a lovely, elegant rise-and-fall action, ¾ time music and a 1-2-3 rhythm.
